Top 5 Myths about Modeling

Myth #1: Runway jobs at fashion weeks are an important source of income for fashion models.

Fact #1: Catwalks are paid poorly. They are promotional in value as they merely create a demand for the model with the big brands.

Myth #2: Cover shoots for top magazines such as Vogue, Cosmopolitan or Elle are paid well.

Fact #2: Models receive peanuts for cover shoots. Their value is purely promotional, creating a strong demand.

Fact #3: A large number of models actually study part-time and have an above average grasp of geography, foreign languages and cultures due to extensive traveling.

Myth #4: Models are slim and tall because the fashion industry imposes an image of beauty on society.

Fact #4: One of the main reason why models need to be slim and tall is that clothes look much better when falling loosely from the shoulders.

Fact #5: When booking a model without a casting, agents have long relied on snaps, digitals or polaroids. They show the model without make-up and expose any flaws ruthlessly.
